Annette Neil from PRD Whitsunday

Yesterday marked the end of Airlie Beach Race Week and although we traditionally see the August trade winds, you can possibly see over my shoulder today that we have some absolutely stunning and very good fishing weather in the last week, with a quite a few days of very low winds. So its a stunning time of year here at the moment, absolutely beautiful. It's warm, its sunny during the day. We've got wonderful boating weather, not so good for the sailors though, but I have heard it was a very successful race week. Some amazing events were held in town, I know we had fireworks, there was some wonderful Eat Street types of things going on, so a really wonderful time to be here in the Whitsundays as it comes alive.

Now, from here we will see the Sailors head to Hamilton island Race Week as well, which is kicking off. So full of sailing here in the Whitsundays and why wouldn't you, with this over my shoulder behind me.

Now in the property market, one thing I wanted to touch on this week was Holiday letting or short term letting. So we are seeing that being blamed a lot for the reason why there is a lack of rental properties here in the Whitsundays as a whole. There have been a lot of people approach me and say the rental crisis must be down to the lack properties that are staying in the permanent rental side and being turned into short term accommodation. That is not the case at all. Yes some properties perhaps were tenanted are becoming short term rentals but the majority of those that have left the rental market have been sold to owner occupiers. A massive 10% of rental properties here in the Whitsundays have been sold and removed from the market as rentals in whatever way, shape or form.

Now we are absolutely full with guests, we really don't have enough properties for the number of guests that want to come here. We are a tourism based town and we need some where for those people to stay, so our team a desperate for properties, if you do have any or thinking about Holiday Letting, get in touch with our team today and see what sort of returns we can get for you.
