PRD Ashmore Secures Top Local Agent Darrell Johnson from Competing Brand

PRD Ashmore has strengthened its position in the Gold Coast market with the appointment of award-winning Ashmore agent Darrell Johnson, marking a significant move from a competing agency.

A dominant figure in the local market for over two decades, Darrell has been named RateMyAgent’s ‘Agent of the Year’ for Ashmore for 10 consecutive years; a track record that positions him among the area’s most consistent performers.

His move to PRD follows years of operating as a direct competitor to PRD Ashmore Principal, Orla Jensen.

“I’ve competed against Orla for years, so I’ve seen firsthand how he runs his business,” Darrell said.
“When I made the decision to move, I wanted to align with a brand and leadership team that matched my standards, and PRD stood out immediately.”

Strengthening PRD Ashmore’s Position

For PRD Ashmore, the appointment is a strategic one.

“Darrell isn’t just experienced, he’s proven,” Orla said.
“He brings market share, relationships, and credibility in areas we’re continuing to expand into. This is a meaningful addition for our office.”

Operating in Ashmore for more than 24 years, PRD has steadily grown its footprint, and Darrell’s arrival signals further intent to compete more aggressively in the local market.

Darrell said the decision was also driven by long-term positioning.

“I wanted a platform that would support growth, not just maintain it. PRD gives me that, both locally and as part of a broader national network.”

Momentum Across Network and Community Impact

His appointment comes as competition across the Gold Coast intensifies, with limited stock and strong buyer demand placing increased pressure on agents to deliver results.

PRD Managing Director, Todd Hadley, said the appointment reflects growing momentum across the network.

“Darrell is a proven performer in the Ashmore market, and his decision to join PRD reflects the strength of what our network offers top agents,” Hadley said.

“Moves like this don’t happen by chance, they signal where good agents see opportunity and long-term growth.”

Beyond real estate, Darrell is well known in the Ashmore community, having supported organisations including the Ashmore PCYC and Ashmore Men’s Shed, and also serving as the community representative on the Ashmore State School board for six years in a row.
