Welcome to the last week of February Whitsunday's e-news!

I thought I'd bring you some stats on home loan lending from the Australian Bureau of statistics. The ones out there out who are getting loans are the people who are buying properties.

We saw in December 2020, investor lending account for 25% of loans that were approved. This is down from a high of 29% in February 2020.

There is a bit of softening given the pandemic's height, as everyone was a little uncertain about the economy.

Investors, however, came back out of their shell, and they are investing quite actively.
This is down from a high of 45% of all loans in 2014-15, which went to investors.
First home buyers, we've seen those jump enormously over the last year.

All of this is because of the stimulus and the government grants that are out there. Such as the home builder, the regional building boost, the first home buyers grants in the various states. Therefore this went up to 27% in December 2020, which is up from the 11% in 2017 so quite a big jump made there.

Now swinging back to the investors, we saw a huge one-month leap in December of 13%, the biggest jump since mid-2018.

So many more people came back into the market at the end of the year with all the news out there that the economy is doing really well in the regional of Australia.

We are seeing many people coming here investing, and therefore spending their money on holidays. They're choosing to invest in a property, perhaps a holiday property.

Looking at how they can create a bit of wealth, probably a bit more stability, and bricks and mortar, as we know, are always an excellent source of investment.

That's all for February here in the Whitsunday.
